Sometimes it feels like you’re the only one who has no idea what the heck they’re doing. This is especially true when it comes to finishing school and all your mates have their pathways sorted. It’s isolating not knowing what you want to do or where you want to do it, and the amount of options out there can be super overwhelming.
Not sure what you want to do yet? There’s an app for that
TAFE NSW has a new app that’ll match you with your ideal career options and lay out all the ways you can get into them. Now, before you go making any assumptions, TAFE NSW isn’t just about trades; they offer all kinds of courses from degrees to diplomas, certificates and short courses in just about every industry under the sun. It’s more variety than most education providers can offer.
Their app is called the Be Ambitious Career Match Maker and works just like your average dating app, which means you already know how to use it (don’t pretend like you don’t). Instead of swiping on emotionally detached people who’ll only end up ghosting you, here you’ll be swiping on different topics and interests until you’re matched with a bunch of compatible career areas. Choose which ones seem like the best fit and you’ll be sent tailored information that explains your course options in more detail.
The app can show you a whole bunch of different course types and pathways, so you’re sorted no matter where you are up to in your studies. For example, while you’re still at school you can enrol in a TVET course that lets you finish your final exams and get a VET qualification at the same time. It’s a great way to study a subject that’s way more hands-on than your typical school subjects and can lead to further study once you graduate.
Right after school is a super convenient time to get started in a certificate or diploma with a range of part-time and full-time courses, as well as apprenticeships and traineeships. Or, if you’re keen on getting that degree qualification, TAFE NSW has plenty of those too.
Early Entry Program for degrees
If you are keen on TAFE NSW degrees, then you’re gonna want to suss out their Early Entry Program. These degrees are the same qualification you’d get from any other university, but they focus more on practical skills that are useful in the workplace. You can utilise TAFE NSW’s industry links to get access to internships and work-placements too.
Their Early Entry Program means you can get accepted into a degree before you even get your ATAR, which means you won’t be as stressed out at the end of the year when everyone else is waiting for their uni offers.
