We won’t lie, a handful of our best memories are created at festivals. The newly formed friendships with people in the mosh, a cheeky romance, the colourful lights, the legendary line-up stacked with killer artists - these are just a few things that make our experience pure bliss. And whenever we reminisce on a fesi, we’re giddy to the brim.
But bloody hell, who puts this all together? Who are the crafters of this excellence and the lively memories entrenched in our psyche? Well, they’re the qualified beings that manage festivals, concerts, music events and artists. There’s a heap of different ways to go down this career pathway and one of our faves is through a Bachelor or Diploma of Entertainment Business Management with our mates at JMC Academy – but we’ll tell you a lil more about them later.
For now, if you think managing a festival tickles your fancy, listen up. This one is huge.
Your Paradise and JMC Academy have teamed up with Year13 to offer you the chance to win an internship in paradise and we reckon this experience will be the ultimate memory you’ll have of festivals – ever.
Hurry up and tell us what we could win! I hear you say. Well buckle up.
You’ll be working with the Your Paradise crew in their HQ in the lead up to the event – learning the ins and outs of what it takes to pull off something like this.
Not only do you get to chuck that work experience on your resume, but Your Paradise will also fly you to Fiji so that you can work behind-the-scenes on the actual festival. You could be helping manage some of the international and Aussie homegrown acts billed at the festival like A-Trak, Gorgon City, What So Not, Cosmo’s Midnight, Crooked Colours and Bag Raiders, to name a few.
Not to mention you’ll have bragging rights over all your mates.
Now that’s bloody huge.
The prize includes:
- Work placement on ground as part of the Your Paradise 2019 crew for the duration of the event
- Work experience at Your Paradise HQ prior to the event
- Return flights from Sydney – Nadi with the Your Paradise team
- On ground and sea transfers in Fiji
- Accommodation in Fiji
Entrants must be at least 18, able to fly from Sydney to Fiji in early December and available to attend work placement at Your Paradise HQ in Sydney in the lead up to the event.
How do I enter?
To enter, chuck in your details over here and answer the question before 11:59PM on 30th August 2019.
We'll then select a group of lucky finalists who'll have the task of telling us how a lil more about how they would work with Your Paradise to hype the festival (we wanna see that you’re actually keen to learn how event management works) and we’ll need you to submit this before 11:59PM on 22nd September 2019 (don’t worry, we’ll remind ya in the lead up).
Suss some more info about the prize right over here plus the terms and conditions. Oh, and if Your Paradise is sounding like something you don’t want to miss, we’ve also got a cheeky discount for anyone who books a trip. All you have to do is reply to your booking confirmation with ‘YEAR13’ and you’ll get $100 off.
Now, back to our mates at JMC Academy. If Entertainment Business Management is something you’re keen to look into, and you don’t want to leave such an amazing career up to chance with this comp, you should check out JMC’s courses over here. If you study with them, you’ll be learning from industry experts and be able to put your skills into action as you learn (JMC are big on getting you the experience you need to land a job).
Plus, while festivals are cool we totally get it if they’re not your thing – the best bit about Entertainment Business Management is that what you learn in this course is relevant to a tonne of different areas, everything from film and TV production management to working in record labels and media agencies (there’s no shortage of career options).
