Course Overview

Do you have an area of expertise which you could teach to others? Then the Diploma of Adult Education could be for you.

The course is a one-year, full-time qualification that gives you the practical skills you need to design and deliver top-quality training programs in your area of expertise.

You will learn to design learning and assessment programs that engage learners so they benefit from your knowledge and expertise. You will learn to develop your skills to organise, implement and evaluate the training and assessment you deliver, and learn how to deliver your training using digital technology.

After completing the Diploma of Adult Education, you will be qualified to work as a trainer or assessor in your chosen discipline in a range of professional contexts including at TAFE NSW, private RTOs, professional development and in-house training.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission into the Diploma of Adult Education you must have at least ONE of the following entry requirements:

  • NSW HSC (Higher School Certificate) or equivalent
  • Recognised Tertiary Preparation Certificate
  • Certificate IV level or higher vocational qualification
  • Completion of at least one year full-time study or equivalent in a degree course at a higher education institution

Please note:

  • This course requires you to have a vocational background or vocational qualification in the area you intend to teach in after graduating from the course.
  • You may be invited to attend an interview as part of the application process.
  • You do NOT require an ATAR for entry into this course
  • If you do not meet any of the four minimum entry requirements, you may be able to apply for entry under special admissions provisions including mature age or disadvantage
