Reckon you’re the best storyteller in your group? Love writing up a good yarn? Are you a stickler for correct spelling and grammar?
We’ve got a paid in-house writing gig up for grabs that we just know you could be perfect for.
If you follow us on Insta you’ll see that Year13 is a pretty grouse place to work (if we do say so ourselves) and, if you’re passionate about helping young people and storytelling, then you’ll fit right in with the rest of our motley crew.
Year13 was born when the founders were teenagers and now the team who runs the show is a rag tag bunch of school leavers and confused 20-somethings who are still on their own post school journeys and learning a whole lot along the way.
Our mission at Year13 is a simple one; we want to improve the health and happiness of all young Australians. We want to be the voice box for all young Aussies who still have no idea wtf they’re doing, just like us. Cause really, who of us isn’t a little bit lost?
If this sounds like the sort of team you could be a part of, then read on.
We're looking for a fresh voice to join our crew with an in-house writing gig. Our office is in Crows Nest and the successful candidate will need to be able to come in a couple of days a week on a freelance basis. We’re pretty flexible with what days so if you’ve got other commitments (uni, TAFE, work, hanging out with your dogs, etc.) we can work something out.
The ideal person for this role is someone who can nail our tone of voice and use a creative, out-of-the-box thinking approach to everything they do. You need to be organised, a great communicator and know how to work to a deadline.
We want someone that knows the difference between clickbait and clickable, can write a good yarn and is keen to help other young people going through the highs and lows of their teenage years.
If you’re keen, we want to hear about your story. Chuck in your details below and in the 'personal message' section make sure you include a bio about you (we won't read it if you don't)–we want to see your personality shine through, so make sure that by the time we finish reading your application that we’ll wanna grab a beer with you.
Make sure you tack on your resume or link us to any writing samples you have but we’ll tell ya right now that we don’t care about qualifications (you don’t even need to have any previous writing experience). If you have a look at our success stories you’ll see that some of our best contributors are uni drop outs or hated high school, but they can write, which is the most important thing.
You need to be able to absolutely nail the Year13 tone of voice to land this gig and we're looking for the right type of person, not just a qualification.
