Degrees in technology are cropping up more and more these days, which is no surprise considering the world we’re living in. With new technologies being developed all the time and new jobs being created, we’re gonna need people who know how to handle their tech, so it’s a pretty good idea to get yourself into a degree that involves it in some shape or form.

These degrees can cover everything from your classic science, computer studies, engineering, and information systems to new and emerging degrees like gaming, cybersecurity, creative industries, creative media and design. There’re some nifty degrees out there, and even better is that if you do get into one of these courses, you might be eligible for this incredible scholarship for young tech wizzes.

What’s this scholarship?

The Westpac Young Technologists Scholarship is a great scholarship if you’re considering a tech degree because it’ll help you get nice and connected with a whole range of influential and inspiring people. Plus, it provides $5,000 for every year you’re studying right up to $25,000, which is an amazing amount of funding. AND they give away 35 scholarships every year, so there’s a more decent chance for you to be a recipient.

Why are they doing it?

Basically, Westpac Bicentennial Foundation set up this scholarship to support young people who are passionate about all sorts of things, including tech. They know that us youths can have some pretty amazing potential, especially when it comes to technology, but we don’t always have the backing or connections to follow what we really want to.

On top of the financial support, you’ll also get access to an extensive network of influencers and other scholars, including previous scholarship winners, so you can meet like-minded people which will seriously help when it comes time to find yourself a job post-uni. Plus, Westpac Bicentennial Foundation also provides paid internship opportunities, so you can gain real work experience while you’re studying, giving you a head-start over your mates.

Am I eligible?

This really depends on what uni you’ll be studying at and which courses they’ve got on offer, and you’ve gotta be under the age of 26 to apply.

You can see the approved courses over here, and these are the universities that are offering the scholarship in 2019:

  • Queensland University of Technology
  • University of Wollongong
  • Western Sydney University
  • RMIT
  • Murdoch University

How do I apply?
