  • Keeping up to date with the constant changes in technology can be difficult.
  • But by keeping your basic digital literacy skills up to date, you can be one step closer to landing any job. Here are the three digital skills to help you land any job.

1. Email literacy

Becoming literate with emails is one of the most important digital skills you can learn.

While it may not seem like emailing and chatting to a work colleague is much different, the formality of an email is super important to grasp.

With networking these days stemming from sending emails on linkedin or sending someone a message via email, you want to be on top of these skills. Quite often your email could be the first example that you should be given the job.

2. Social media literacy

Learning some social media skills can help you in a heap of different ways when trying to land jobs.

Social media is a key tool you can use to reach out to people. From simply following them, to engaging with their content by liking and sharing, to commenting with informative and character and skill revealing answers.

Once you have the job your social media may be a key way your employer can see what type of person you are. By being literate with your social media and presenting yourself in a favourable light you are on your way to landing that job.

3. Computer literacy

Your computer literacy skills are incredibly important. These are to do with understanding and being knowledgeable of the basic skills.

So many jobs these days either have some sort of POS computer system, use a computer, tablet or other device, or requires you to work on a computer to complete daily tasks. Which is why your computer literacy skills are essential.

Learning how to navigate the home tab. Knowing the most efficient way to handle a document. Knowing basic security safeguarding practices.

These are all things that can be expected of you when you are hired and will help you best serve your job and employers needs.

Learning something new can be a bit daunting at first, but I’m sure as you get started on further building your digital skills you will find that you already have the basics down for a few of these.
