Whether you’ve recently left your job, or if COVID-19 left you unemployed, we can all agree that finding work can be an absolute slog. What makes it worse is that it’s even harder to know where the jobs actually are. You might be asking yourself ‘am I looking in the right places?’ or ‘are there jobs out there that I don’t even know about?’. Well, here’s 3 of the fastest growing job opportunities in Aus right now.

Registered Nurses:

It’s definitely not surprising that RNs are near the top of the list of jobs in-demand. Until we get some sort of nanomachine in our bloodstream to cure all diseases, people are going to get ill, and we need people who can take care of them. It’s not like every day is an episode of ER either - registered nurses work in a bunch of different settings like aged care facilities (happen to watch lots of Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds recently?), or in people’s homes. It’s often shift work, so there’s loads of flexibility, but the real reward is helping people when they need it most.

Software and Applications Programmers:

Unless you managed to find our super-secret (read: non-existent) Year13 newspaper, you’re using the work of programmers right now! The really interesting thing about programming is that it’s such a versatile job - once you learn how software works, you could find yourself working on all sorts of different projects and applications. You could even go full entrepreneur and build the next TikTok? Whatever billion-dollar social media platform you build, can we count on you to get us verified ASAP?

Early Childhood (Pre-primary School) Teachers

Education is one of the most important and fulfilling industries out there.  If you’re someone who loves teaching and caring for kids, it’s the kind of job where you get 100x out what you put in. Early childhood education is all about making sure our littlest learners are all set up for success at primary school and later in life. It takes an engaging personality, creativity and a passion for making a positive difference in people’s lives.

As well as it being a fast-growing industry, there’s actually loads of great incentives for you to consider getting qualified in early childhood education.

Let’s look at Victoria. For starters, the Victorian Government is delivering funded Three-Year-Old Kinder to  deliver an extra year of play-based learning to support kids’ development. And, as a part of that, they’re creating 6000 new roles for early childhood teachers and educators between now and 2029. They’ve also invested money to get people trained up, including financial support of up to $34,000 to help with education costs. You read that right - up to $34,000 to help support your studies so you can teach in Victoria.
