5 Tips For Throwing An End Of Year Party You Won’t Forget
You’re finishing high school and that’s enough of a reason to celebrate. In a year full of 18th’s and big nights it would only be right to finish of the year with the best party yet. You’ve decided to take one for the team and put on an end of year party for all your school pals. But before you get carried away with trying to become a deadset legend, there’s a few things you need to get in order to make sure the night runs smoothly.
1. Get the boring stuff done first
The fun can’t happen until you make sure you minimise the chance of things going dramatically wrong. Number one on this list is letting your neighbours know if you’re throwing a massive party. If you live in a street with neighbours close by it’s smart to tell them that a party will be happening and the best way to do this is just a quick note in their letter box. The last thing you want is a 10pm shut down because Mavis from down the street has called the cops 3 times. Most of the time your neighbours will genuinely appreciate the notice and wish you a good night.
2. Security
The next thing to do is sort your security. Whether it’s your old man and his mates sinking cans on the gate or a proper set of security guards, it’s important that there is people at the entrance with to check the people coming in. You can write up a guest list if you want or just let them know to not let anyone in who looks too sketchy or too old for high school. Get that sorted early.
3. Get your pals there for the prep
Until you’ve thrown one of these parties you don’t realise how much shit there is to get ready so it’s crucial to get some friends there to help out. Tunes, food, bins, toilets, d floor location, beer pong tables, lighting, decorations, speakers, fire bins, where the dogs are going for the night and just general clean up of the joint are some of the things that need to get sorted. Best way to set up music is to just get one or two friends to make a massive playlist that they can just plug into some big ass speakers you’ve borrowed for the night.
4. Keep it to your year
As much as you can, try keep the party to just the people in your grade. It’s hard because friendships are often formed with younger kids at school/kids at other schools and you don’t want your good friends to miss out on a good night. Remember to invite everyone in your grade; you’re all finishing together so no one should be left out. Also, the best and most memorable benders always come from the least expected person.
5. Relax and enjoy it
You only finish school once. All the prep is done and now it’s time to relax and take away that nervous ‘I’m finishing school and have no idea what I’m doing with my life’ vibes. If you’ve prepared well, your ‘rents are all over it and everyone is keen for a good night you’ll be fine. If you’re having fun and enjoying the moment, chances are everyone else is too.
