Overview
  • Adele's new album titled "30" is dropping on November 19th (so get your tissues ready)
  • Adele planned on being an A&R talent manager, launching the careers of others rather than her own.
  • The singer was definitely a comedian in another life (I mean, check out her newest live video on Insta - she had me in stitches 😂), but like her music normally is, her newest album is inspired by love and heartbreak.

Unless you're pulling a Patrick Star and living under a rock, you've probably heard Adele's fresh hit 'Easy On Me'. Her album is also on the way, dropping on November 19 baby!!! (We're not counting down the days or anything...😭)

With Adele's track record (y'know, 15 Grammys, an Oscar and millions of albums sold worldwide), we know that her upcoming album titled "30" is gonna slap.

To channel my excitement, I sussed out who Adele was before all the fame and glory. What did she wanna do after school? How did she stumble into success? What's her inspiration for her music?

Here's some inspiration for all of you Singstar legends hitting the high notes in the shower. 😉

Growing up, Adele wasn't too keen on the four walls of a classroom. She convinced her mum to let her enroll in the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology. (Fun fact: Amy Winehouse is an alum of the school). There, she didn't really care for boys much. She was on a one-way highway, determined to succeed in the music bizz.

Whilst she always loved to sing, Adele was actually more interested in going into A&R, managing talent. She hoped to launch other people's careers rather than her own.

Sorry but...Can 👏you 👏imagine👏??!?! Seriously?! Picture a world where Adele, with one of the most iconic voices of all time, was building other people's singing careers! As if.

For a class project, Adele cut a three-track demo for a class project. This was eventually posted on her friends' MySpace page. (Here it is but beware, it was filmed on a literal potato.)

You can hear Adele's signature voice and talent shining right through the two megapixels. It's real, raw, and unscripted. Just a girl, her guitar and her incredible voice. This set the precedent for the rest of her career.

This video was uploaded four months after Adele graduated from high school and her A&R management dreams were pushed aside as executives at XL Recordings heard the tracks and contacted the singer immediately.

In November 2006, Adele nabbed a record deal.

I guess Adele's story shows how quickly plans can change. Whilst she thought she'd be a talent manager, she was always writing and performing music as a hobby. I mean, she literally wrote 'Hometown Glory' when she was just 16-years-old!!

This determination got her dang far, as did her openness and vulnerability, chronicling her own heartbreak since the start of her career. But on the other side of the spectrum, Adele could give stand-up comedians a run for their money. I mean, her live video on Insta had me in stitches.

She did become dead serious in the live video after someone asked what inspired her newest album "30". “Divorce, babe,” she said. “Divorce.” I honestly can't think of any other pop star more single-mindedly devoted to matters of the heart than Adele.

Where would we be without her?
