Arts
What’s it all about?
The question shouldn’t be “what’s it all about?,” it should read “What are you all about?” An arts degree is the one pathway at university where you can literally choose to study anything that interests you. The only proviso is that you will be taught to think critically throughout your study. If you’re one of those people who wants to study a little bit of everything, then an arts degree could be for you. If you love art or writing or music or history, it’s a great way to make you employable in a field of your passion.
Will it suit me?
Art degrees aren’t just for those who dominated Art class in high school, in fact Art degrees are usually the most flexible degrees that universities offer. If you like the idea of designing your own degree and you want to study a subject or three of your interests (even if they aren’t related!) then an art degree might be for you.
What will I learn?
It’s completely up to you! If you like writing you could study in journalism or writing, or if music is more your style you can focus your degree around that. There are also many arts degrees that have a strong focus on graphic design. Again the biggest strength of an arts degree is its’ flexibility.
Studying the Creative Arts offers major studies in:
- Digital Journalism
- Drama
- Literature

How long will it last?

- Journalist
- Creative director
Of course you don’t have to fall into these area’s, there are so many pathways to this degree that the world is literally your oyster. You could even specialise in a more specific fields once have commenced your studies.
What is Fee-Help or HECS?
Did you know the FEE-HELP / HECS scheme allows you to study now and pay for a course later? The great thing about FEE-HELP / HECS is that you don’t have to make any re-payments until you have a job and your income reaches a certain level, which for the 2014 / 15 income year is $53,345.
