How To Build Your Career On Social Media
Overview
Here's how Steph Claire-Smith built her career on social media
Do you ever find yourself scrolling through your Instagram feed every morning thinking, “Damn, wish I could be an influencer for a livin’. Ah well, let’s get this bread I guess”. Then all of a sudden, you’re crying in the car on your way to your 9-5 job? Feels.
What if I told you that quitting your job, building your career online and collabing with massive brands is totally achievable?
Take Steph Claire Smith for example. If you’re unfamiliar with the Australian influencer and entrepreneur (not sure how with her insane 1.5 million following), she is the brains behind the sunglasses brand Soda Shades and fitness/nutrition/wellness brand, Keep It Cleaner.
After being with a modelling agency for some time, Steph has done some incredible work, being the face of major brand Bondi Sands, ambassador for G-Shock Australia and collabing with Bras n Things, Rebel Sport and Clinique.
Building an audience and then building a brand is incredibly hard but Steph has shown how it definitely is possible if you love what you do.
“At the start, I would just take on different jobs and I thought it was really exciting… I then went through the transition of only posting what I genuinely love and use,” Steph said to Uncommon.
Back before KIC (Keep It Cleaner) became the massive brand it is today, living in New York by herself, Steph would post a lot of savoury recipes to her socials. Laura Henshaw, now co-founder of KIC, had a lot of sweet recipes shared on her blog - bada bing bada boom, their love for fitness and nutrition blended and KIC was born.
After making their mark in the fitness industry with recipes, workout plans and their wellness app, the KIC gals developed a line of products they thought were lacking in the supermarkets - where you can find their protein balls, powders, bars + tortilla chips!
In the words of G Flip, we’ve got a crush on Steph Claire Smith. And to top it all off, we're so excited that she's got a little bubba now! Congrats!
