We bet you thought you knew what you wanted to be when you grew up.

Well think again.

Job options have drastically changed since we were all lil’ gremlins. But dw, we’ve done some digging for ya, and found some pretty sick jobs in the creative industry that you probably didn’t even know existed or just hadn’t considered…

1. User Experience Designer

User Experience (UX) Designers have a super dynamic job that can vary from company to company, even project to project. This job title is also super new.

Generally, a UX designer conducts user research, designs, writes UX copy, validates/tests with users and sells/presents the design solutions to the business.

It’s the UX designer’s role to be the voice of the user and advocate for the users’ needs while balancing the business goals.

2. 3D Animator

The extent of your 3D knowledge may be remembering those black glasses you’d get from the cinema at a 3D movie, (I used to always keep them, pop out the 3D lenses and wear them every day because I was a fashion icon).

So, here’s the goss. 3D animators create a plethora of animations, which don’t just turn into major motion pictures, but also popular video games, or shorter animations for television or film.

A 3D animator can specialise in creating various types of animated images such as humans, objects, or focus on the background and landscapes of an animation.

3. Application Developer

An Application Developer is responsible for developing and modifying source code for software applications. These applications are aimed at aiding customers with computer tasks or programs.

To be successful as an Application Developer, you should have knowledge of software engineering as well as excellent analytical skills.

Studying the Undergraduate Certificate in Augmented and Virtual Reality Application Development at SAE will teach you the core technical skills and knowledge to be an Application Developer.

4. Games Designer

Why not make the transition from gamer to a game designer?

Not only are games becoming some of the biggest entertainment properties in the world, but industries are also now using the positive effects of 'gamification' and serious games to encourage behavioural change, particularly in fields of healthcare, training and safety!

Long story short, games genuinely have the potential to change the world now. So why not be a part of a team inventing, developing, creating and producing games!

You’d start creating games in your first trimester in this practical project-based course and build skills and knowledge in areas such as player psychology, level design, social and mobile game development, gameplay programming, game design, app design, project management, serious games and more.

5. Sound Designer for games

Speaking of games, why not create the soundtrack for a game. Whether it’s the music and foley or the sound effects (like gunshots, footsteps, crashes, cheers, heavy rain), you’d be making a game feel as real and visceral as possible.
