Major works are a rollercoaster of ups and downs. Sometimes you’ll feel giddy, full of inspiration and motivation. Other times you’ll feel… okay. You know those rollercoaster stories you hear about where the ride gets jammed and people are stuck upside down for hours…? Yeah, you might feel a bit like that, as major works can sometimes be a little overwhelming.

But no matter how many ups and downs you experience; your hard work will be paid off with a testament to your will power and creative abilities!

So, here are five things you’ll feel on the rollercoaster of major works.

1. Inspired

When your beautiful brain summons that innovative idea for your major work, that’s when you arrive to inspiration station. The creative juices will be flowin’ as you create Pinterest boards, watch YouTube tutorials, design sketches, take notes and experiment!

Inspiration will come in ebbs and flows throughout the whole process. I remember if I was needing a spark of inspo, I’d read a good book, get outdoors and catch up with mother nature or listen to some bangers! But sometimes when you really can’t find that creative spark, that’s when you become…

2. Unsure

It’s natural for our brains to fill with doubt. What if I can’t pull this off?

What if my major work isn’t as good as everybody else’s? Am I even sold on this idea?

Doubt is a real buzzkill and I wish it’d nick off! But I guess it’s just a driving force to get you to put your best foot forward and make some magic!

The best way to stop uncertainty is to nip it in the bud ASAP. Allocate time to pre-production rather than jumping the gun, spending time testing prototypes and researching first! Then, consistently grind on your major work so you always feel like you’re getting somewhere!

3. Motivated

The times you are feeling motivated during the journey of your major work are truly the best. When the ball is rolling, it’s hard to stop it and magic just keeps happening!

Motivation comes in sparks. Unfortunately for me, I’d always feel most motivated in the middle of the night when I should have been catching some well-needed Z’s but alas, I better not question the motivation gods.

4. Frazzled

Whether you keep procrastinating, you’re feeling behind, or you’re bogged down with a million other commitments, becoming frazzled is almost inevitable during your major work.

It’s important to take a breather and remind yourself that it will allllll be groovy eventually! Just remember, practical problems have practical solutions. Don't get too worked up about it.

5. On top of the world

CONGRATULATIONS! You’re FINISHED!

Oh man, it’s like a weight is lifted from your shoulders when you finish that last stroke, note or line of your major work. The relief, the freedom, the glory… soak it all in because you deserve to feel on top of the world! Yeehaw!
