How To Flex On Your Ex This Summer
Overview
- Going through a breakup? They can be some of the hardest times in your life.
- Here's how you can get back on your feet and show your ex you're doing just fine without them.
Are you heading into 2023 after a recent breakup? Of course, every breakup is different and some relationships end on better terms than others. But I feel like no matter the circumstances, pretty much everyone is looking for ways they can flex on their ex.
You don’t wish anything bad upon them, you just want to make sure they know that you’re slaying on your own. So here are a few ways you can let them (and the world) know you’re doing just fine.
Take The High Road
Of course, if your ex hurt you badly, it’s hard to only speak highly of them. In fact, venting to friends can be therapeutic. But try your best to be forgiving and avoid slagging them off unnecessarily, because the more energy you put into thinking and talking about them, the less you’ll have to put into yourself.
This is also a bit of a moral flex. Because when word gets around, they’ll probably hear all the things you’ve been saying about them. But if nobody has any tea to report, you’ll be out here looking like a modern Mother Teresa.
Practice Self Love
Nothing says “I’m doing great sweetie” more than the radiance that comes when you truly love yourself. After a tough break-up, falling back in love with yourself can be a challenge. But if you start by showing yourself kindness, you’ll be on the right track.
If there’s ever been a time to treat yourself, it’s now. Take a break to watch some nostalgic movies, or go on a shopping spree and pick up some new outfits you feel stunning in. If you're feeling daring, why not try out a new look you've been considering?
Show, Don’t Tell
Don’t tell people how much better off you are - show them. If those three words gave you unwanted flashbacks to English class, I am sincerely sorry. But it’s a technique that can effortlessly prove that you’re having a blast without your ex.
If someone is constantly telling you how much they’re over their previous partner, they almost never are. It just proves they’re still living rent free in your noggin. Instead, spend time doing things you love, catch up with friends, and enjoy being able to do things on your terms.
Stop Stalking Their Socials
Let’s be honest, constantly checking your ex’s social media is never a good idea. You’ll never be able to move on from them if you keep reminding yourself of what used to be. They’ll also be checking to see if you’ve viewed their stories, so if you can resist the temptation, this is a huge flex - especially if they’ve been watching yours.
Depending on how the relationship ended, you might still be following each other, and that’s completely normal. But if that’s the case, and you’re still keen to flex, just mute their profile so it won’t show up when they post a story.
If you need extra motivation to stay off their profile, just imagine how smug they’d be if they could see you scrolling through their posts six times a day.
But most importantly, don’t let being hung up on your ex ruin your summer. Get out there and enjoy the sunshine, and all the other amazing things that come with this time of year.
