Help The Turtles In Costa Rica
School’s done, so it’s time to start thinking about what you’re going to be doing next year. I know, I know! You don’t want to think about it right now. But consider this: our new and improved gap years page can help you out with any adventure you want to take, and there’s defs something for everyone on offer.
If you’re interested in animals, activism and the environment then look no further than the turtle conservation in Costa Rica. Yep, it’s as cool as it sounds.
You’ll be volunteering on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, helping to protect and preserve the nesting sites of a species in danger of extinction. You’ll be playing a vital part in securing the future of these amazing creatures, and imagine all the tiny baby turtles you’ll be releasing into the sea and taking care of!
Human activities such as infrastructure development, light pollution, vehicles and the capture of adult turtles have significantly reduced the sea turtle population, so it’s up to us to help them as best as we can (it’s only fair, really). You might be constructing turtle hatcheries, monitoring eggs and nesting turtles, releasing baby turtles and planting trees around the area as well.
An opportunity like this is going to look incredible on your resume, particularly if you’re looking to get into a hella competitive program like veterinary medicine, and you’ll have a leg up on the experience front for your career. If you’re not looking to pursue a related career and you just think helping out sea turtles in Costa Rica sounds awesome, you’ll have incredible stories to tell your family and friends when you come home.
Accommodation and food is provided with your placement, and we can help with flights, visas and travel insurance, which makes the whole thing easy as. With Year13 behind you, it means all you have to think about is the turtles.
Fin. Noggin. Dude.
