5 Things We All Miss About House Parties
Slowly but surely, as you get older house parties start to disappear. If you and your mates are still enjoying the days of drinking in someones backyard, please appreciate it, because pretty soon it’ll either be replaced by nights in clubs or deciding to stay in and watch Netflix by yourself to avoid the effort of going out.
1. Drinking games
Who doesn’t love a good game of beer pong? There is no better feeling then when the house transforms into an arena when the red cups take formation. What about when someone draws out a deck of cards and everyone takes a seat and laughs at every flip of a card in a game of Kings Cup.
Drinking games are a major perk of house parties, and something that just can’t be done in a club.
2. Sitting down
Yeah clubs are great…until your legs get tired, your ears are ringing and your motivation is well and truly gone.
All you want to do is sit down and take a break but there’s no room and your friends are nowhere near ready to head home. At a house party, it’s expected that at a certain point everyone is going to pull up a chair and sit in a circle talking shit.
3. Keeping it cheap
Spending your life savings on having fun is overrated and we all miss a time where we didn’t have to save up all our money to go out on the weekend.
Going out means coughing up cash for drinks, Ubers and entry just to get the night started. A good old house party only requires getting a lift with a mate and buying bevvies, which are a million times cheaper at your local bottle shop than the bar.
4. Music
House parties mean full control of the tunes and the best part is the variety through the night- everything from throwbacks, sing alongs and whatever is topping the charts- even the odd Spotify ad thrown in there for good measure.
5. Comfy clothes
Planning your outfit for a night out is so much harder than it should be. You have to account for the weather, what everyone else is wearing, venue dress codes and whether you’re going to last the whole night in your outfit.
Not with house parties. There’s no strict dress rules and it’s totally acceptable to wear jeans and Converse without being under-dressed.
