I don't know about you, but slogging away on a treadmill or doing long exercises for an hour is like Chinese water torture to me. Not to mention, most days I can't fit in a whole hour of exercise! Ya girl has two jobs and uni!

But what if I told you that doing more short workouts as opposed to long whoppers is actually better... (But for real, if you froth a long cardio sesh, whatever floats your dingy! You're working out so do what works for you!)

Excuses excuses

When you know you’ll be spending an hour or two working out, it's easy to skip the sesh altogether when life gets frazzling. I mean, that's a pretty long commitment in a day, especially when you have a million other things to do.

But, everyone has a spare 10 to 20 minutes in a day. Come on, I know you do. Take out that time you spend scrolling through Tik Tok or annoying your little brother to get physical.

It'll be easier to stick to your workout schedule and exercise each day since it's such a short amount of time as well! I mean, it doesn't feel good on yourself when you skip a workout right? You feel like you're letting yourself down. But again, 10 minutes is pretty dang achievable!

Gimme those results

HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training) is all the rage because it can improve your fitness level in as little as two weeks, and can give you the same cardiovascular and muscular benefits as steady-state cardio in half to one-third the amount of time!!

So basically, you'll be working for 10 or 20 minutes, but it'll be tough. That being said, your metabolism is boosted, your body’s fat-burning power is raised and you burn more calories in way less time!!

Not to mention, when I'm doing the same ol' move for ages, I start to lose interest and focus and slack off. But a quick, hard workout is over before you know it.

You'll be less hungry

If you're wanting to shave a few kilos, studies have shown that HIIT may actually suppress your appetite whereas steady-state cardio can actually increase it. When I joined a gym and was doing longer workouts, I was ravenous afterward. After HIIT workouts, I eat normally and tend to even snack less.

Good vibes all day, every day

I dunno about you, but crushing a workout in the morning makes me feel 💪🏼unstoppable💪🏼 for the rest of the day. To capitalise on those good vibes, I'd rather do, say, five to six short workouts in the week rather than two or three long whoppers.

So suss out HIIT videos on YouTube (there are millions!), go forth, be a healthy lord and save your time! Time is of the essence people!
