I cannot get through my day without listening to my fave tunes - whether that’s first thing in the morning, on the way home from work or when I’m going out for a walk. The perfect playlist should get you freshly inspired, motivated and it’s the perfect escape.

Plus, if you’ve had a shocker of a day - there’s no denying that songs like Waking Up Easy by Lime Cordiale, Heads Will Roll by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs or every CupcakKe remix on TikTok are massive vibes.

From someone who has just curated a playlist called “Bianca’s certified bangers” - here are my tips to get out of a iso slump and get your head in the game when pulling together your ultimate faves.

Name it something funny, intriguing or exciting

You’re never going to have a bangin’ playlist if you name it something like “work tracks 📊📚”... no. Keep it simple, write it up as capitals or pop in some emojis to match the vibes you’ll be having when you’re jamming out.

Don’t rush into it

My number one rule when I'm chillaxing and adding my faves to a playlist is to take my time. If I don’t vibe with it one hundred percent, it’s not getting added in. I’m talking about songs you never skip. You need high vibes throughout, so sit on a track until you think it’s playlist worthy and make sure keep it updated!

Make note of songs you hear in public

You know those songs you hear every now and then - when you’re strolling through a Woolies aisle or walking through a shopping centre and think “damn, this is a track”? Look, you’ll probably never listen to it again unless you Shazam it. It happens time and time again until you find yourself stressed scrolling through Spotify trying to find it. Or, like a fellow colleague, listen to a whole eight hour playlist trying to find one song.

Whenever I hear a bangin’ song, I’ll either screenshot my Shazam or write it in my notes - I’m not losing that beauty of a track! Levitating by Dua Lipa was one of them for me (before it was a massive hit) - kudos, random bottle-o!

Splash it with some variety

No stress if you’re going from Fleetwood Mac, Mac Miller to the Foo Fighters - spice up your playlist with different genres! Too much hardstyle and you’ll be in your own little rave - too many sad songs and you’ll be reminded of those nights, crying at two in the morning.

Make sure you are limiting your playlist to one song per artist - unless they’re god tier to you, then bloody go for it.

Suss out these uplifting tracks

Here at Year13, we’ve got a hustle and bustle playlist to keep the vibes 📈 - here are some of my favourites on there! Anything with a 130 BPM (beats per minute) or over is killer.

Always be on the lookout for new music

Ask your friends about the music they’ve been vibing with (as long as you trust their taste in music) and have a geeze at newly released tracks on other playlists!

Give albums a whirl in full - I have found some of my favourite tracks on albums (that aren’t singles) - share it with your mates and you’ll be that trusty friend with the aux cord at all times.

Aaaand you’ve just curated the best playlist known to the world! I congratulate you. Grab a bev, chill out and get keen for some great music to pump up your iso vibes 🎧
