How To Get Qualified to Teach English Overseas
Working overseas will always be an amazing way to see the world. You spend your time travelling to new and interesting places, eating and drinking exotic delicacies, learning about other cultures and making a bit of coin on the way.
To us, making cash and travelling sounds about as good as it gets.
If it sounds good to you too, and you totally nailed those English exams, you may want to consider teaching English in a foreign land. If you’re personable, you’ve got good written and spoken language skills and you enjoy interacting with people, you’re halfway to becoming a qualified English teacher. There’s an increasing demand in Asia and the Middle East for qualified English teachers and pay can be pretty good. It’s a great option for those with itchy feet and a keen sense of adventure.
But how?
The first step to achieving the English teacher dream lifestyle is to undertake a TESOL course. It stands for Teach English to Speakers of Other Languages, so rather than teaching young native English speakers, it’s designed for teaching those who are learning English as their second language. You can enrol to do the course online through Minerva College, starting anytime you want. You can literally register tonight and start tomorrow.
Course details
The course is delivered completely online, and it takes 48 weeks (almost a full year) to complete. To qualify to do the course you must have completed high school to Year 12 level, or prove that you meet the required skill standard via a video conference. It’s also recommended that applicants have six months of work experience in any field, are proficient in literacy and numeracy and are computer literate. Obviously, you also need computer and internet access.
Once qualified, the jobs are there. You barely need to look! It’s an incredibly valuable qualification to have under your belt, and you can use it in Australia as well. Click here and give Minerva College a ring on 1300 882 110. They’re ready to help!
