Thinking of Leaving School For An Apprenticeship? These Sites Will Help
As time goes on, getting an apprenticeship starts to seem like a more and more attractive option. For starters, we’re in the midst of a national skills shortage, so tradies are highly in demand and there are plenty of jobs available. Secondly, you get paid while you get qualified (which is very different to uni, where you finish with tens of thousands of dollars worth of debt). And then tradies get paid pretty well too, so it’s a pretty good deal.
If you’re thinking that the tradie life might be the life for you, scope out some of these resources for hooking up an apprenticeship or traineeship.
Apprenticeship Central
Apprenticeship Central is a one-stop shop for finding an apprenticeship. You can refine your search by the area you live in and the industry you want to work in, then browse all the jobs available. There are openings in all sorts of professions, from chefing to upholstery to automotive mechanics. You can also register on the site by posting your resume, which allows potential employers to scope you out and potentially offer you work.
CareerMe app
The CareerMe app (which is on both apple and android) is designed to provide up-to-date info for young people looking for work after school. It reveals interesting details about a whole bunch of different industries, including the average income, the job growth and the average age and gender of workers. There’s also a bunch of job vacancies and explanations about what those jobs are actually like. This app’s definitely worth having a look at.
BUSY At Work
BUSY At Work are based in Queensland and they’re all about hooking young people up with apprenticeships, traineeships and training programs. They’ve got support networks, instant chat and some great programs for indigenous Australians, people with disabilities and people of all ages. Have a look at their website for apprenticeship options all over Queensland and they’ll get in touch with you.
