It’s the platform that keeps on giving. From funny dog videos, short dances and creative voiceovers, it’ll have you scrolling for hours. Who can forget the guy skateboarding to ‘Dreams’ while sipping on Ocean Spray cranberry juice? The lad that rates videos of people re-stocking household items? What about whipped dalgona coffee? Don’t get me started on “can you pay my billlllssss, can you pay my telephoooneee biiiillllssss” 🎶

Without further ado, please welcome… TikTok Resumes! 

TikTok is changing the job hunting game. Gone are the days of printing out your resume and mentioning one of the skills you’re great at is Excel (same) because some of your favourite brands are now ready to hear about your job experience and see your authentic personality and passions shine through, using the creative tools and effects the platform already offers!

So, you’re probably thinking, why has TikTok gotta put their finger in every pie? Well, TikTok are keen on getting the Gen Z’s (18-24) of the world job ready earlier, as Business Insider Australia reported that Statista found that only 19.3% of LinkedIn users belong to that age demographic. Crazy stats, right?

You can send TikTok resumes directly to employers! Here’s how you’ll be able to get your resume going:

  1. Like any TikTok, film vertically!
  2. Use the hashtag #TikTokResumes to get amongst it
  3. Leave the resume up for a month to allow employers to review your resume
  4. Tell (or show, in this case) your future employer why you’d be a great fit for the company
  5. Be yourself! Use some music, the green screen tool - anything that shows your creativity!
  6. Apply directly to employers via the TikTok Resumes website and you’re golden!

While I’ve got you gee’d up, just so you know, TikTok have launched this pilot in the US and it’ll be ending July 31st (soz). No doubt this’ll hit our Aussie shores soon enough, so be ready to get job ready when it does!
