Overview
  • There is nothing holding you back - bid farewell to your teenage years and go on the trip of a lifetime while you can
  • You're young, fit and healthy. You're bill (phone and Spotify doesn't count) and mortgage free - travel before you regret it!
  • Studying and full-time work can wait - this is your time to find yourself.

There is no age limit on travel but the best way to bid farewell to your teenage years and before succumbing to adulthood is to go on the trip of a lifetime. I don’t mean a weeklong road trip - I mean an overseas adventure, an exploration if you will, while you’re fit and young that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

Really, think about it. There are currently no constraints holding you back. Studying? You can always put it on pause; it will always be available for you. Got bills, debts and subscriptions to pay? They’re probably at an all-time low right now compared to when you get older. Got a partner that doesn’t want to travel? Stuff ‘em, you only have one life (YOLO), go solo travelling!

While we’re on that note, please do solo travel. You will find yourself. It’s a cliché saying but it’s true. You'll surprise yourself by stepping out of your comfort zone. Life is never promised and you’re the only person that can control it (we gettin' real deep in this shit).

Have a serious think about where you see yourself in ten years. If you’re happy with going into your adult years with no worldly exposure, go ahead. No judgment here. But trust... you’re missing out. Your life will be shaped around who you meet, what you’ve experienced and the prospects that you never thought were possible. It’ll make you worldly, aware and open-minded. Because in your 20’s…

1. You’re fearless and love spontaneity

You have just spent the majority of your younger years in school and now you get to make a choice. This is your first taste of freedom - away from your parents, away from the world you know. You’re more likely to take risks, learn from your mistakes and create some amazing memories along the way.

2. You probably don’t have a pile of debt

Student loans are an exception, pay that off whenever but chances are you’re not worrying about mortgages, household bills or children at this age. Look, maybe you’ll never have a mortgage or children (and that’s completely fine too) but when you’re in your early twenties, you can spend your money without feeling guilty about it.

3. You’ll find gratitude and appreciation for the little things in life

Whether you’re living off $5 a day for food (hey, that can get you pretty far in some countries) or struggling to find public transportation overseas, you’ll start to realise that you’ve got it pretty dang good. And that’s the beauty of the world, you’ll appreciate what you’ve got and value everything you live with everyday.

4. You’re at your peak of being healthy and fit

You’re exploring, sight-seeing, going on massive walks and why not do it all when your body is in the perfect condition to do it? When you get older, things start to break, crack and your body just slows down so you may as well do it while you can.

Put it on your bucket list, save up your dosh, buy those plane tickets (post-iso that is) and don't look back 🛫
