Your Ultimate Europe Bucket List
Overview
- From Turkey sails to the Cliffs of Moher, here are some lesser-known things to do in Europe that aren't just "see the Eiffel Tower". 😉
"What should I do in Europe?"
With international borders opening up and more and more people dreaming of galivanting across the globe, you're probably wondering what you should be doing in that beaut' continent.
So, I gift to you 17 things you have to do in Europe. Here's your ultimate bucket list. Buckle in.
1. Sail around Turkey
After a one week Turkey sail, you'll have hazy memories of pirate-cove parties, views of monumental Mediterranean fjords, and swimming around in transparent, opal waters.
2. Walk the Berlin Wall
Hot tip! Take a free walking tour in Berlin! You'll learn oh-so much more about the history and culture of the famous Berlin Wall.
3. Suss Park Güell and La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona
Get ready to see some insane architecture from the late 19th and early 20th centuries! Antoni Gaudí designed Park Güell, one of the most stunning parks in the world. Then walk 24 minutes to La Sagrada Familia, a large minor basilica unfinished by Gaudí.
4. Sink beers at Oktoberfest
Beer. Pretzels. Lederhosens and dirndl's. Singing 'Sweet Caroline' every other second. Oktoberfest was a highlight of my trip and can't👏🏼 be 👏🏼missed.👏🏼 Fun fact: about six million people attend Oktoberfest annually.
5. Swim at every town at Cinque Terre
Cinque Terre is made up of five small towns, Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Monterosso al Mare and Vernazza. They're iconic and live up to the hype by far!
6. Walk to the top of the Acropolis in Athens
From the bottom it looks daunting, and it can be, but the view is worth it. Getting to the top is not that bad, especially if it is busier. You will walk up various sets of stairs but if it is busy, you won’t realise how far you have actually walked.
7. Visit the baths in Budapest
I went to the famous Széchenyi Thermal Baths after getting bed bugs in Austria and spent the whole time itching in the water lmao. A very cool experience though!
8. Northern Lights in Finland
Lapland is an unreal place to see the magical Northern Lights. Seriously, this was hands down one of the coolest nights of my life.
9. A music festival...anywhere
I've been to Primavera Sound in Spain, Reading and Leeds Festival in England and Sziget in Hungary. You just have to experience a European music festival. It's a no-brainer.
10. Cliffs of Moher in Ireland
The Cliffs of Moher are breathtaking. They're about 14 kilometers in length and at the highest point, just over 500 feet in elevation. We took a little roadtrip around Ireland which was insane, but you can always book a bus to take you there or a tour!
11. Train around Switzerland
I almost cried when I arrived to Switzerland. Cried because I couldn't fathom that a place could look so much like a painting. It was insane! The best way to see these jaw-dropping sites is by train!
12. Toss a coin in the Trevi Fountain in Rome
Live your Lizzie McGuire dreams at the Trevi Fountain. Rumor has it, if you throw a coin in the fountain there are a few wishes that will come true. You are to stand with your back facing the fountain and use your right hand to toss over your left shoulder.
13. Blue Lagoon in Iceland
Looking for a soak in one of the most epic geothermal spas in the world? Known for its milky blue waters, Blue Lagoon is open year-round. Pro tip: do not get your hair wet if you can avoid it. The silica in the water will make your hair like hay. I learnt that the hard way.
14. Croatia yacht week
I know I've already put a Turkey sail on here but why can't we have both?! Vibes in Croatia are immaculate✨. Add a boat, tonnes of new mates, partying and swimming all day and you're in heaven.
15. Greece Island hopping
You'll be living your best Greek island in the sun, hopping from Mykonos to Paros to Santorini to Ios to literally whatever else floats your boat. You'll laze in the sea during the day and party at night. The life.
16. Ride a bike through Amsterdam
If you didn't ride a bike in Amsterdam, you didn't go to Amsterdam. It's as simple as that.
17. Walk around the Red Square in Russia
Red Square is the largest and most famous square in Russia and is quite frankly just so so so so so cool.
Standing in Red Square, you can see the Kremlin, GUM department store, the State History Museum, Lenin's Mausoleum, and of course, St Basil’s Cathedral.
I could go on but, let's just stick with 17 things so we don't overwhelm you. Have fun in Europe! 😉🥰
