Why Failure Is The Best Thing That Can Happen To You
Everyone has that mate who's got a business plan. Maybe it's a new app, a get-rich-quick pyramid scheme, or a dog-walking business. Maybe you are that mate.
There are so many great ideas out there, it's a wonder there aren't more wildly successful people around. Well, we reckon we know why.
It's a fear of failure.
People don't want to embarrass themselves. They don't want to admit to their friends and their family that what they tried didn't work out, and they're terrified of spending valuable time on something that isn't going to succeed on the first go.
Fear of failure isn't just reserved for the business world, however. People are afraid of failing in almost any situation. Picking a hard subject in Year 12, saying hello to the pretty guy/gal across the room for you, performing at the talent quest like you've always wanted to do... It's often fear that holds people back in life.
Well, what if we told you that failure is one of the best things you could hope for?
Meet the founder of Boost Juice
Janine Allis is not your everyday self-made businesswoman. She began the Boost Juice empire in 2000 from her kitchen bench, and turned it into an international success story. Now, Boost Juice Bars operate in 15 different countries with three new brands of Salsas Fresh Mex Grill, Betty’s Burgers and Cibo espresso totaling over 600 stores.
As successful as she is, Janine is very familiar with failure. At the last Year13 Expo, we caught up with Janine in one of our live webinars and she ran us through the idea that failure can in fact be a blessing.

Tell me more about Janine Allis
Janine has shared her knowledge with others through her role as a “Shark” and mentor on Channel Ten’s Shark Tank and appeared as a Champion contestant on Channel Ten’s Australian Survivor 2019. Her passion and business ethic have made her a leader in her field, with being listed as one of the top 15 people who have changed the way business is done in the last 25 years and one of Australia’s top 20 most successful Australian’s in 2019.
What's the rest of the webinar about?
In the rest of the webinar, Janine discusses how starting a business can be overwhelming and intense. A lot of us don’t have safety nets or mentors or family who are aware of the business world and how it operates. A lot of it is down to trial and error, and often this can be disheartening. However, with the right skills and real-talk advice, you can minimise a lot of mistakes and kick start it the right way.
