Should Aspiring Pro Athletes Stay At School Or Follow Their Dreams?
Every school has that one kid who's just an absolute weapon at every sport they try.
Some schools have more than one. But how many do you know who actually leave school in order to try and make it in the big time?
To some, that sounds like the dream. To others, it might sound like one of the scariest decisions you could ever make.
Meet Laura Enever
Laura Enever is a pro surfer who decided to roll the dice, leave school, and chase her passion for surfing.
In the clip below, Laura describes what life was like trying to balance her studies with competitive surfing before she ultimately decided to focus entirely on the sport. She also talks about her struggles with self-doubt, and whether or not she thinks going back to study after leaving school is really possible.
Wanna See The Whole Thing?
The clip above was from a live webinar we held at the last Year13 Expo, and you can watch the full thing here.
In the webinar, Laura shares her story and breaks down her journey towards a life in the world of sports as an athlete. Laura has a very impressive catalogue as a two-time World Junior Champion, Australian Champion, and Pro Jnr Champion. She had an amazing junior surfing career and has gone on to compete on the WSL Women’s World Tour for 7 years, consistently finishing in the Top 10. Now, you can catch her competing on the Women's Big Wave World Tour.
Not bad at all!
