Here’s Why You Should Consider A Fitness Career
For so many people, a career in fitness really is the dream.
When it comes to making work not feel like work, avoiding the 9-5 grind, balancing your career with quality of life, or simply doing something a little bit different to everyone else, the world of fitness has got you covered.
While you might think the term ‘fitness career’ only equals ‘Personal Trainer’ – you’d be amazed at the wide variety of roles in the fitness industry for anyone interested in keeping themselves and others fit and healthy. At the Australian Institute of Fitness (AIF), you can find a range of courses that can get you into a bunch of completely different fitness careers.
Staying healthy is part of the job
There aren’t many jobs out there where you’re actually encouraged to stay fit and healthy, but when you work in the fitness industry it’s best to lead by example.
If you were to enrol in the Master Trainer ProgramTM at AIF, you’d be well on your way to landing a gig as a personal trainer. And if you’ve ever been to an F45 session or a boot camp in the park (you know, the ones that leave you totally wrecked and gasping for air? Or is that just me?), you’d know that it’s not uncommon for the PT running the session to be right alongside you, doing the exercises with you.
I challenge you to find one other career where you get paid to do burpees. Go on, I’ll wait.
The work you do has a positive impact on society
If one of your criteria for the dream job is that you get to give back to society, then a career in fitness has your name on it. When you study to become a Nutrition Coach, your #1 career goal becomes to teach society the ins and outs of healthy eating. This can be a super rewarding role as you witness people transform their lives for the better as a result of your professional advice.
You can be your own boss
When you’re the boss, you get to create the business you’ve always dreamed of. Whether you want to incorporate super-modern work/life balance initiatives, or you have an idea for a fitness business that’s never been done before; when you’re in charge, you have the power to make it happen.
AIF’s course in Fitness Business Essentials gives you the skills and know-how to conquer the fitness industry and take the first step towards becoming your own boss.
You’re not stuck behind a desk
I probably should’ve put this one right at the top. Let’s repeat that again, but slower:
You’re. Not. Stuck. Behind. A. Desk.
Sure, almost all careers involve a bit of computer time, but at least in the fitness industry, you’re not sittin’ there, staring at the screen all day every day!
With AIF’s Certificate IV in Massage Therapy, you start your journey towards becoming a Massage Therapist. Say goodbye to desk jobs forever (and hello to active, engaging, enjoyable and positive work).
Flexible working hours
Similar to not being stuck behind a desk, when you work in the fitness industry, you’re also not bound by the hours of 9-5.
For example, if you went down the path of a Fitness Instructor, you could find yourself giving classes in the early morning before people head to work, or in the evenings when they come home. That gives you the entire day to do what you love doing while everyone else is trapped at work.
Similarly, if you’re your own boss, you get to decide the operating hours of your business.
The fitness industry is a super flexible one that caters for the dreams and goals of a diverse range of people. If you reckon a fitness career is the one for you, then we highly recommend checking out the courses over at the Australian Institute of Fitness – they’re found all across
Australia and, to be frank... we think they are pretty epic!
