  • Deciding to quit your uni course can be one of the scariest things you'll ever do. But if it's not right for you, then it's time to make a change! Here's why you should consider changing your university degree...

It wasn't an easy decision, but I've finally made up my mind. I'm changing my uni degree...for the third time. Some people might think I'm crazy, but I know it's the right decision for me. Here's why...

I originally chose my course because it sounded interesting and I thought it would be a good stepping stone to a career in Civil Engineering. But after a few months of studying, I realised that it wasn't for me. Who knew that Engineering involved so much maths? Yikes. So I switched to a course in Architecture, hoping that it would bring me a little more joy. But once again, I found myself struggling to engage with the material.

I'm not someone who gives up easily, so I persevered for a few more months. But it became increasingly clear that this just wasn't the right fit for me. So, after careful consideration, I've decided to switch courses again. This time, I'm going into Construction Project Management —and I couldn't be more excited about it. In a way, it combines aspects of both of my earlier degrees. I think I’ve always been drawn to the construction industry, but I just didn’t know enough about the roles within it.

From speaking with current students as well as people within the field, I feel way more confident going into this degree. Who knows if it will be where I actually end up, but hey - life’s a rollercoaster.

Making the decision to change your uni degree is never easy. But sometimes, it's necessary in order to find the right fit and make yourself happy. That's why I've changed my course three times. And each time, I've felt more and more certain that I'm on the right path. If you're feeling like your current course isn't right for you, don't be afraid to make a change. It might just be the best decision you ever make.
