So where is this magical place? 🦄
After jumping on a flight lasting less than 2 hours, you'll land in Launceston, Tasmania. Once there, you'll drive a relaxing two hours through scenic farming towns, admiring the breathtaking views.
Once you arrive, you'll be greeted by Tassie's Lake St Clair National Park. As part of the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area, the park is one of Tassie's most iconic and special places. Just so you know, you'll never ever wanna leave the national park. With its Aboriginal historic sites, plethora of wildlife and beaut glacial lakes it's a dreamy wilderness haven. 🌿
*Fun fact: Lake St Clair is the deepest lake in Australia.
What can I do there?
If you fancy braving an all-day hike, you'll summit the star of the show - the fairytale-esque Cradle Mountain. If you really enjoy a hike, you'll love the world-famous Overland Track, which takes you to majestic Lake St Clair - when I say enjoy a hike, I mean it's a 6-day commitment. No biggie.
But if for some weird reason you don't fancy that, there are also a bunch of shorter walks that pass through the stunnin' old rainforest. If hiking isn't a bitta you, then you can head on a super chill lake cruise or even fish for some trout (in season) 🐟. There are also scenic flights over the park if you're not afraid of heights like me.
Where can I stay?
As such a beautiful and important place, there's no shortage of tourists. That means there's an awesome abundance of chalets, cabins, and campsites at Cradle Mountain as well as Lake St Clair. You'll also find heaps of Airbnb's a short drive away from the national park.
With Cradle Mountain you're absolutely spoilt for choice, and you'll be blessed with pristine wilderness, glass-clear lakes and nature at its finest in an otherwordly spot. What's not to love? 💚
