Whilst jet setting around the globe is off the table, for the time being, we're pretty lucky that we're stranded in Australia. From beaches to bushland, rainforests to reefs, diving spots to deserts - there's a hell of a lot to experience here.

So, if you're craving a cheeky travel adventure, why not work away in your own country? You'll earn $$$ whilst seeing new sights, meeting new friends and living your best life. Say you have a few months or even a year. Why not suss out working hard, playing harder in these red hot destinations?

1. Whitsundays, Queensland

From farm work, being a scuba Instructor, or working in hospitality, there are some funky options up north.

The Whitsundays are made up of 74 Island Wonders, on the beautiful tropical coast of Queensland. The stunning natural landscapes of coast and islands are dotted with secluded beaches and friendly towns.

From snorkeling, turtle spotting, and swimming with tropical fish to spectacular sunsets and beach lookouts, Whitsundays is heaven on earth!

It's quite a bubble as well, so you'll meet people quickly!

2. Margaret River, Western Australia

A few hours south of Perth, Margaret River is flanked by national parks including towering forests, pristine coastlines, and rugged granite outcrops. How's the serenity?

There are heaps of cellar doors, winery restaurants, breweries, and providores, so take your pick at one of these job options and dive right into a life of visiting caves, hiking around state forests, and surfing red hot beaches.

3. Cairns, Queensland

The ideal season in Cairns is probably May to August as it's a bit of a Winter mecca. Bars, restaurants, hostels, retail shops and tour offices will all be looking for staff.

If you’re looking for regional work, this is a good chance to knock out some sugar cane farming while still being close enough to feel like you’re in the city.

Cape Tribulation, just north of the city, is the only place on Earth where two World Heritage Sites meet – the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. You can go scuba diving in the largest reef system on the planet or spend time with an Aboriginal community in the forest. You can spend the day by the lagoon or dance all night at Gilligan’s massive nightclub.

4. Darwin, Northern Territory

If you want to break the mold just a little bit more, then keep on trucking past the rainforests and reefs until you get to the Darwin, right in the middle of the northern coast. I mean, this location is entirely unlike the rest of Australia... unlike the rest of the world!

Darwin combines the forests of the northeast with the flat expanses of the Red Center and exploring this wilderness is one of the most rewarding experiences in the country! Kakadu National Park is also a few hours outside the town, providing plenty of opportunities for day/weekend trips.

You’ll find Darwin full of bars, restaurants and retail to work in!

5. Port Macquarie, New South Wales

Pozza Maquozza (as my mate from Port Macquarie calls it), is a laidback, surfer town with the friendliest locals I've ever experienced. Over Summer especially, hospitality jobs need more employers to deal with the influx of tourists coming in and out!

Not to mention, you're in the prime location to experience Australia's East Coast. With unreal places like Hat Head, South West Rocks and Crescent Head (best bakery in the world imo) nearby, you'll be seeing unreal beaches and getting your tan on.

So what are you waiting for? These cities are calling your name!
