Year 12 isn't as crappy as you'd think. Sure, sometimes you'll be buried alive in assessments, stress, pressure and drama. But come on, you can't have a rainbow without a little rain... All I'm sayin' is, don't let all the high school bs cloud the abundance of funky things that happen in Year 12. In fact, it will probably be your favourite year of school. Hear me out.

Gone are the days of begging your parents to drive you everywhere or relying on public transport. Either you'll get your licence or your mates will. It's the very first taste of ultimate freedom and adulthood - I mean, what can beat the feeling of walking around with your very own car keys jingling in your hand? Study periods become the time for Maccas runs and cheeky trips to the beach. Absolutely winning.

When you finish school, no matter how much you hated it, you'll miss seeing your mates every day and being surrounded by banter. Some of my favourite memories were made in Year 12. Like the time my friends and I tried to skip a three-hour assembly but saw teachers guarding the school gates so we were stuck hiding in the bushes. Or the time my friend and I had an epic 'Ferris Buellers Day Off'. Or the time my whole year group got scabies...That was pretty funny. I miss playing truth or dare in class, pulling pranks, going out for breakfast before school and sitting around with friends, talking and dreaming about the future.

Year 12 brings friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, hookups, drama and some bloody good moments -  whilst you're juggling all this, you're also thinking about the future. You're constantly excited at the thought of uni applications, gap year ideas and jobs. It can be overwhelming, people constantly asking you, "what are you going to do after high school?" Especially if you have no idea, but it's also thrilling! The world is your oyster and you can pursue whatever you want. That's pretty cool.

Year 12 will be over before you know it. Rather than moaning about assessments and spending your whole time stressing over the final exams, take a second to appreciate all the good times because trust me, there'll be so so many of them.
