Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology

Overview: In this course you will gain the skills and knowledge to perform a broad range of tasks on a variety of heavy commercial vehicles in the automotive mechanical service and repair sector.

Program No: C3-TS09

Campus: CIT Fyshwick 

Duration:

  • Apprentice: 6 semesters part-time (9 blocks per year, approximately 24 hours per week per block)
  • ASBA in year 10: 6 semesters,1 day per week, approximately 8 hours per day
  • ASBA in year 11: 4 semesters,1 day per week, approximately 8 hours per day.

Indicative Cost: $2,365 | Apprentice/Trainee $1,790

Likely Job Outcome: Truck mechanic or Heavy machinery mechanic.

Additional Information: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by industry will also be required for the learning environment. These include:

  • Overalls
  • Long pants - cotton drill/ jeans
  • Leather safety boots
  • Safety glasses
  • Welding helmet
  • Welding gloves

Entry Requirements: Early in the program your skills will be assessed – if you cannot read and write documents and complete maths work to the level needed you will be enrolled into additional subjects to help you build the skills needed to successfully complete the program.

If you are entering this program as an apprentice/trainee you must:

  • be employed in the auto industry
  • be an Apprentice or Trainee under the Australian Apprenticeship Scheme (AAS) and be registered with an Apprenticeship Network Provider (ANP) prior to enrolment.
