Learn a range of skills and knowledge to provide therapeutic massage to alleviate muscular tension, assist with common musculoskeletal disorders, increase joint range of movement and for relaxation purposes, to manage stress and improve health and wellbeing.

Up to 9 months - Full Time or Part Time equivalent

Employment Outcomes

This qualification covers work as basic level massage therapists. It provides skills in therapeutic relaxation massage including basic health assessment and treatment and may be used by people working:
- within a clinic or in their own clinic
- in an aged care facility
- in a health service
- in a spa facility or
- in a palliative care facility or hospital

Note: Completion of a TAFE SA course does not guarantee an employment outcome. Formal requirements other than educational qualifications (eg licensing, professional registration), may apply to some occupations.

Qualifications & Skills Covered

Certificate IV in Massage Therapy (HLT42015)
This course provides skills and knowledge in client relationships, working with diverse people, first aid, infection prevention and control, massage practice and treatments and workplace safety. To complete the qualification you are required to complete all 10 core units and 3 elective units plus you must have completed at least 80 hours of work as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency.

Note: Students who successfully complete only one or more units of competency but not the full qualification are eligible to receive a Statement of Attainment.
