The Diploma of Applied Positive Psychology can be applied to a range of roles and industries and is particularly of benefit to those who work directly with individuals and teams. You will gain knowledge and skills that can be applied personally and within your profession. This course introduces you to the theories and frameworks of positive psychology before providing opportunities to personally utilise evidence-based positive psychology practices. Graduates will be able to astutely apply positive psychology in a number of contexts with the aim of improving individual, community, group and organisational wellbeing. Please note this course does not qualify you to become a registered psychologist.

Duration: Up to 2 years Part Time

The course provides theoretical frameworks and practical application of positive psychology in a range of professional and personal contexts. It serves as a complementary wellbeing qualification in many professional contexts.

First Year Subjects; Principles of Applied Positive Psychology introduces the key principles, theories, frameworks and objectives of positive psychology. Students will apply character strengths measures and practices to help you understand the concepts of a good life, happiness and flourishing. Practices of Applied Positive Psychology examines a range of evidence-based positive psychology measurement tools and practices as well as identifying and critiquing the effectiveness of interventions designed to contribute to wellbeing. Second Year Subjects; Perspectives of Applied Positive Psychology examines the application of positive psychology in a range of contexts. It explores how wellbeing theories and frameworks may be applied within lifespan development, education, organisations and community settings. Possibilities of Applied Positive Psychology examines a range of debates that critique positive psychology research methods, results and practices. You will explore emerging areas of research, discuss possibilities for future wellbeing promotion; and develop understanding of professional and ethical parameters for practitioners.
