What You'll Learn

Event Foundation is the first subject in our Event Manager - Diploma of Event Management qualification course. Also a stand-alone course, Event Foundation is designed for those with an interest in events who might be considering event management as a career option.

This course will introduce you to the vast global events industry, examine the basic planning and execution of events and outline the mindsets and attitudes required to work as an event manager.

Using our online platform you will explore the following six modules

  • 01 Global events industry
  • 02 Working in event teams
  • 03 Before the event
  • 04 During the event
  • 05 After the event
  • 06 Career pathways

By the end of the course you will be able to:

  • Identify and categorise key sources of information and professional networks in the global events industry
  • Prepare and execute plans for events
  • Explain and apply key mindsets, values and attitudes required to work effectively in teams
  • Identify and take steps in the development of a personal career pathway in the events industry

Entry Requirements

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Access to a computer and reliable internet connection
  • Loads of enthusiasm and passion for events
  • No previous course completion or experience in events required

Career Outcomes

On completion of Event Foundation you will:

  • Have a clear picture of the local events industry
  • Gain knowledge of the workings of an event from beginning to end
  • Understand the different roles of an event manager
  • Receive a verified digital Certificate and a *Statement of Attainment*

*A Statement of Attainment certifies the completion of one or more Units from a whole qualification eg Diploma of Event Management SIT50316*

This course is an introductory short-course. We recommend further study to achieve job-readiness for a career in events.
