Take it from professional netball player and captain of Queensland Firebirds Gabi Simpson. Gabi attended the University of Queensland and discovered uni isn’t all about studying and with some help from UQ, she got to chase her passion in sport.
In this webinar, Gabi shares her story and explains why studying isn’t the only thing you can do at uni.
Gabi Simpson has gone from strength to strength as a Netball player and leader since being appointed captain of the Queensland Firebirds in 2017. Testament to the respect she holds among her peers, Gabi was named vice-captain of the Australian Diamonds and played a pivotal role in claiming silver in the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. The UQ Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) student, is a two-time UQ Sportswoman of the Year recipient and has received a Sports Achievement Scholarship from the University to assist exceptional athletes balance their studies with the demands of elite-level sport. A dynamic character on and off court, her speed off the mark, strength and determination make her a fan favourite across the league and has inspired the next generation of wing defence.
