Up, Down, Side to Side: Using Your Passion To Overcome Anything In Your Way

30 min watch

When you leave the school gates, your post-school journey looks pretty linear from the get-go. But life has a funny way of leading you to where you’re supposed to be going and Sabeena Manalis has a remarkable journey of the trials and tribulations she faced during her teenage years. Throughout high school, she developed serious mental health issues and her life began to spiral out of control. The only thing that managed to pull her out of the situation was her passion for acting. She landed roles in hit shows Underbelly, Neighbours and award-winning comedy Housos but there were many hurdles along the way.

In this webinar, Sabeena shares her story and address how crucial it is to look after your mental health and just how chasing your passions is the ultimate remedy.

Sabeena grew up in regional NSW and from a young age she began working at her grandparent’s cinema which ignited her love of film and the dramatic arts. At 15 years-old, Sabeena won a prestigious acting competition that encouraged her to make the move to the big smoke and attend a Performing Arts school. She’s landed roles in some of Australia’s most iconic shows and featured in multiple commercials and films. But behind the scenes Sabeena is a registered Psychotherapist, legendary mum of one and is in her final year of Bachelor of Psychology at Deakin University. Oh and chances are you’ve caught her at Year13’s ‘The Truth Project’! Talk about Superwoman!
