Working With The World, Not For It
30 min watch
As a young person, it’s not uncommon having to defend your opinions, thoughts and values about the current affairs occurring around the globe- whether it’s online or at the family dinner table. In fact, you may have such a deep desire to change the world for the better that you’re beginning to consider careers that are alternative to the usual 9-5, stuck-behind-the-desk tropes. This is certainly a feeling all too familiar for Emma Pocock, whose ethical motivation led her to establishing her own career of improving peoples’ wellbeing.
In this webinar, Emma will share her story and explain how you can let your values guide your career path.
Emma is a graduate in Bachelor of Social Science, Women’s Studies at Edith Cowan University and Master of International Development at University of Canberra. Guided by her passionate values towards conservation and community development, Emma forged her own career. Between spending six months living in Zimbabwe facilitating development projects and working as a senior policy and strategy advisor for Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young, Emma and her husband David Pocock (Australian Rugby Player) self-published a book titled In Our Nature, with all funds going to conservation.
