TikTok is one of, if not the best social media platforms to exist (yep, I’m calling it).

It just has this unique charm about it. The insanely accurate algorithm and very, very dangerous infinite scroll make us defy the concept of time and sleep. But we reckon it’s certainly the different types of people that make TikTok great.

Whether you’re laughing at them or with them, here are just a handful of people you’ll definitely come across on TikTok.

1. The hotties

They’re the ones who were blessed with the best genes that make them appear like gods and goddesses. They try their hardest to be funny but fortunately for us, you simply can’t be funny and good looking.

Nevertheless, all they need to do is a post a TikTok of them looking at the camera listening to a song or lip-syncing a popular sound and they’ll manage to get a crazy amount of likes anyway. And most of the time, they know it too.

2. The post-breakup despressos

We’re talking laying down in bed with a huge chunk of text covering the screen about the breakdown of their relationship with a cheeky L to finish it off. And usually it’s overlayed with Ribs by Lorde.

To be honest, some of them hit ya where it hurts. Others are relatable with a subtle hint of comedy. But most of the time, the people are just simps.

3. The POV-ers

Ah yes, the point-of-viewers. Or as we like to call them, the wannabe actors and actresses. Not gonna lie, most POV TikToks are downright weird and gives us major second-hand embarrassment.

But there are a handful out there that are just freakin’ brilliant. We're looking at @itishannahwest here.

4. The complicated choreographers

Arguably the OG TikTok’ers, the dancers love to make up complicated choreography for all to follow suit. We’re talking Renegade, Glitter and Say So.

And let it be known, we’re all guilty of trying to recreate these dances at parties or music festivals.

5. The ones who froth softbois

To froth a softboi is to set up your heart to be broken. It’s inevitable- sorry we don’t make the rules.

The people who unfortunately fall into this enticing love trap are the ones who will create TikToks for 3 months straight about how hard they got played. Usually overlayed with the song These Boys Ain’t S**t.

6. The fashionistas/playlisters

Pretty self-explanatory. They’re the type that love to share their fashion and music on TikTok when no one asked. Literally no one. When? When what? 

7. The partygoers

Sharing their late-night shenanigans on TikTok, the partygoers can either be one of two things: cringe or hilarious. There is just no in-between.

Clickbait galore, the story timers know exactly how to hook you in. Most of the time you’ll be asking yourself whether their story time was even legit to begin with. Other times, you’ll be pleasantly surprised with a wholesome story time that you absolutely do not regret following along with.

9. The self-deprecators

Love to hate themselves, the self-deprecators are the type to make TikToks about their insecurities masking it with comedy. Classic, we love healthy coping mechanisms.

10. The duet-ers

Grilling absolutely anybody and everybody, the duet-ers love to roast other TikTok users. You’ll usually catch them in a duet with a point-of-view user absolutely destroying their articulate scene of them being the new kid in school.

11. The weirdest yet funniest humans you’ll come across

Easily the best users that grace TikTok, these are the types of people that are just naturally funny. They could say the most bizarre sentence or create the strangest video and it just works. You know exactly who we're talking about too- you've come across them and had a giggle.

12. The workplace mischief makers

Exposing the deepest and darkest secrets of their workplace, these TikTok users give us glorious insights into what shenanigans they get up to at work when they’re not busy dealing with the infamous Karen. Think Maccas, Officeworks, Bunnings and Starbucks.

13. The famous relative check

Making us absolutely jel, these users love to flex on us how cool it is to actually have someone famous in the family.

Whether it be an A-list celeb or a viral sensation, we all envy them deep down inside.

14. The disrespectful kids to their rents

Doing absolutely anything and everything to rile up their parents and film a reaction, these users certainly love to play with fire.

One TikTok that comes to mind is one where glass is purposely thrown onto the kitchen floor that is cleaned up by his parents. Yeah, haha. So… where’s the joke, but?

15. The ones who love dark humour

These are the ones who make videos that are too soon to bring up. They’re cynical and make you question your moral compass when you catch yourself giggling. We’re certainly not going to post an example (gotta protect Year13’s brand integrity, you feel me?)

The TikTok landscape is wild, vast and loud. And as trends develop, there will certainly be more types of people out there on TikTok. But for now, sit back and let your worries creep up on you as you procrastinate on TikTok- you’re defs not alone because it took us ages to put this together because we were always distracted by sharing the funniest videos we found from the night before.
