10 Types Of People You'll Meet In Your Casual Job
Casual jobs always come with an abundance of eclectic characters. The beautiful spectrum of people who care too little and care too much makes every shift all the more enjoyable. Here are some of our fav types of people you'll meet.
1. The boss who isn't a boss
You can just tell that if they actually were the boss, they'd become drunk with the power of crushing everyone's souls. Alas, they don't have that power just yet, but that won't stop them from bossing everyone around on the daily causing every other employee to roll their eyes.
2. The bludger
When the bossy one tells the bludger what to do, it's like telling the sky not to be blue. It's impossible.
They glide on into work and lean against the counter, staring into the abyss or just chatting to everyone, lacking any and all motivation to actually get anything done.
They spend hours in the bathroom scrolling through their phone and if anyone asks, they're adamant on the fact that it's a human right to get bathroom breaks.
3. The unreliable one
I have one question for them. How have they not been fired yet? I mean, miracles happen every day, I guess...
They're late to work more times than not and it's a game of Russian roulette if they're rostered on anyways. Will they come or will they not?
4. The complainer
I'm tired, I'm bored, I don't want to be here.
This is the person who wakes up on the wrong side of the bed every bloody morning. Oh and trust me, they'll make sure everyone hears about it too.
5. The funny one
They can get away with being a little unreliable or a little bludgy every now and then because everyone loves them. Even that manager who is the next reincarnation of the devil will have a giggle with them.
They are constantly making everyone cackle, even the customers, and everyone will hope they're on shift with them to brighten the place up.
6. The cool manager
They're hip, with it and cool. They'll let you get away with having a good time whilst also keeping everything in order. They're a rare, beautiful being that should always be appreciated.
7. The not so cool manager
The saddest thing is when you clock on and see the cool manager finishing their shift and the not so cool manager clocking on. So close, yet so far.
They're a stickler for the rules and hate anything out of place. They adore razzing everyone and making you feel sub-human for the smallest mistakes. They get a kick out of bossing people around and have probably caused the odd one (see below) to make a voodoo doll of them and cross out their eyes.
8. The odd one
They give the word odd a whole new meaning and they make work all the more interesting. I worked at a cinema with a girl who would smoke in the cinemas whilst cleaning them and only ever talk about her obsession with Nick Frost. I loved when she was on shift, it was classic.
9. The kleptomaniac
If you ever catch them knicking some food from work (which you rarely won't because they're so smooth), they'll say hey man! I worked hard this shift! I deserve this!
They'll reap as much as they can out of the business, feeling entitled to it all.
10. The gossip
They know your business before you know it. They'll be first to arrive and last to leave every work party, just to squeeze as much goss out as possible. It'd probably be wise not to enlighten them with your life story. Every colleague will know it within minutes.
