5 Tips To Up Your Depop Selling Game
If you’ve been trapped at home like the rest of us, it’s the perfect time to do some of those big home projects you’ve been putting off while you’ve had better stuff to do (you know, like go outside). The classic one is to declutter that overstuffed wardrobe.
If you’re being honest with yourself, at least a third of that wardrobe is full of stuff you haven’t touched in ages - so why not freshen up your fits and grab a bit of cash in the meantime? Here’s 5 tips to get those clothes out the door and that cash in your pocket ASAP, and dodge ending up on @depopdrama:
Take good photos
This one’s a little different than selling on somewhere like eBay or Marketplace. On those ones, it’s all about making the product as clear as possible, like white background, simple and plain stuff. Depop is a little closer to something like Instagram, where if you want to get attention you’ll wanna get creative.
You’re probably not working with a full photography studio, so some extra tips on taking great photos would be to find somewhere with great indirect light (next to a window or outside on a cloudy day), and take a photo with you actually wearing the clothing! That way, buyers can actually see how the clothing will look on a body instead of just on a hanger or flat on your bedspread.
Make your posts easy to find
People usually either search by the filters or by using keywords, so make sure you have both nice and filled out. The big three are colour, size and measurements. If you’re having a hard time with the measurements, try looking online for the retail listing (on somewhere like ASOS or the brand’s page) and they’ll usually have a sizing chart with stuff like waist and inseam length.
Use your socials to give your post a boost
You might be worried that your depop profile doesn’t have a big following to get those eyeballs, but you probably have some followers on your personal Insta that could be interested in some second hand goods. You can actually share straight from Depop to your insta story, with direct links and prices! You will need at least 4 items for that feature to work though.
If you’re posting on socials, the best time is around 7pm-9pm when people are settling in for the night and scrolling through while they unwind.
