If you have some friends that bail at the last minute but you're all about getting everyone on the trip away, we've got some advice for you 🌴

It’s an absolute stitch up for one of your mates to dog the group last minute, or ditch on plans that have been the topic of conversation for a very long time - but it’s inevitable. When it involves time and money, it changes the whole dynamic - so if you’re the organised one, how do you get every single person on board for that trip away? From my own cruises to overseas trips, here are my persuasive tips:

Soft launch your options

Picture this: You’re trying to align time-off and holidays with everyone in the off-season. There are too many options (and opinions) on where to go. Don’t hit them with the massive question, or poll them on where they want to go - it’s a rookie error. Send them videos and pictures out of nowhere.

Let them know how much their family loves to holiday there. Provide options without actually having a proper conversation about it, and it’ll be in the forefront of their mind.

Inspire them

If you have worked in customer service, front-facing jobs - you probably know all about upselling. Whether that be an extra cheeseburger, a tote bag or a pair of socks to go with some new shoes, you know how to sell a product and how it can benefit their lifestyle.

Now, getting your mates on board with travel is the exact same thing - you may not have a target to reach, but you do have a massive objective - selling the idea of a holiday. Let them know it’s a once in a lifetime holiday! You’ll never be this young again! This trip will change your life!

Book things far in advance

Lock plans in early by booking them in when everyone’s vibes and excitement are at a high. If possible, take payment later and give people a generous amount of time to find the money if they don’t have it already. Make things as flexible as possible!

Make payments easy

Whether it’s instalments or in one big payment, try and make transactions between money as simple as possible - that could be directly to the organiser of the group through Beem It or bank transfers, or to the travel agent. Provide friendly reminders, as well as invoices and receipts to ensure everyone is in black and white!

Create a flexible schedule and be considerate of others

If you have travelled with family or friends in the past, you probably already know just how draining it can be sometimes spending 24/7 with the same people in the same hotel rooms or activities. Not everyone is keen on a city tour, a late night out every single night or early wake ups - so ensure that activities booked are at a reasonable time to avoid stress levels to run high!

Holiday planning can be a nightmare but it all pays off! That feeling when packing your suitcase, organising your outfits, finding the cheapest thing at the airport to eat before your flight - absolutely unmatched!
