7 Things You Can't Get Through Isolation Without
Soon we'll all be galivanting around greener pastures. Hanging with friends, being outside, travelling, partying... straight up sending it.
But for now, we just have to shine it on inside. So here is how to isolate in style and comfort with things you can't live without whilst hibernating inside.
1. A good pair of trackies
If you wake up and chuck on a nice pair of jeans, what are you playing at? Are you deranged?
I'm kidding, I'm kidding. I understand that some people feel more productive and normal if they still get dressed... I am just not one of them.
Maximum comfort is key my friends so you're going to want a soft and baggy pair of trackies.
Trackies have a multitude of purposes. You can do puzzles in them. You can watch a plethora of Netflix movies in them. You can sleep in them. You can exercise in them... The list of isolation tasks you can do in them is endless.
2. Ingredients to your fave meal/dessert
I feel comforted when I make and devour my favourite meals and desserts. So venture out to lift your spirits by getting in the kitchen and making your famous curry, burritos, stir fry... whatever floats your dingy.
Let's also not forget dessert. Nothing makes me happier than a homemade chocolate cake that just screams diabetes.
3. Your mates’ Netflix password
I mean, if our friends can't be there for us, they might as well let us leech from their Netflix account. It seems only fair.
You will need an account to any streaming service of your desire to let you escape into movies and TV shows, taking you to other worlds that are probably better than our own right now... Or worse. I mean, watch 'A Quiet Place' and you'll gain perspective and actually appreciate being in iso.
4. A good book (or 10)
In iso, you have time to kill. And what better way to kill it than reading a good book? Or 10. Or 100.
Like movies and TV series, a good book will grab your hand and take you on a journey from the comfort of your bed. Since you can't travel or get up to mischief with your mates, now is the time to live vicariously through characters. Who knows, you might learn a thing or two along the way.
5. A bangin’ iso playlist
Music heals all. Frazzled? Dazed? Anxious? Need motivation? Music will amp you up, zen you out or be your friend.
In a chaotic time like this, it is essential to have a bangin' iso playlist that you can boogie to at all times.
6. A form of social networking
Whether you prefer Facebook, Instagram, Facetime, Zoom, Skype... Email (lmao)... You are going to need a form of communication to talk to your mates that I'm sure you miss. Trust me, keeping in contact with your friends will keep you sane.
I also would like to start a petition where we bring back MSN Messenger at a time like this. I think that has always been the superior form of online communication.
7. A game
Whether you've found an old Sims or Animal Crossing game or you've stumbled across old board games, decks of cards and puzzles, it's time to fil your time with some wholesome entertainment.
Games are essential to keep you sane, liven up your spirits and just have a g time. A lot of us don't get enough free time to commit to a 1000 piece puzzle, so now is your time to indulge.
Keep on keeping on my friends. It'll be over before we know it but for now, try to enjoy having r&r time on your hands.
