It's 2007. Laura has just watched Back To The Future for the first time, instigating an obsession with film. After a few dodgy short films, a whole lot of movie marathons and a university enrollment, she's well into her film uni degree and has just realised that this isn't the career for her... Bugger.

Jack's in high school. He's absolutely killin' it in business class and some have referred to him as the next Steve Jobs. He thinks that he might as well pursue this. But now, at uni, his grades are slipping, motivation dropping and passion fading.

It's ATAR release day! Kendal has received a whopper of an ATAR. Her parents convince her that with potential like that, she should pursue law, just like her dad. As she's never shown passion in law (unless it's debating with her brother on who gets the car that night), she quickly detests her degree.

No matter your reason, if you're not vibing with your uni degree and can't imagine pursuing it, it might just be time to jump ship. And guess what? That's okay! It's more than okay!

So you want to change uni degrees...

People change! Our passions, interests and opinions change with us! When you think about it, it's insane that the moment we step out of high school, we're told: "now choose what you're gonna do for the rest of your life!". Like, come on mate? I still have teenage acne and you want me to commit to something for the rest of my life?

The fact that your mind and body are signalling to you: "hey dog, we're actually not frothing this uni degree choice of yours" early on rather than ten years down the track is fantastic! But then the fear might be kicking in...

Will my parents think I'm a dropkick for giving up? Will I be behind all my mates, graduating before me now? What if I don't like my second uni degree choice?

Amidst your stress, some people might tell you to shine it on: "Come on, a degree is just a degree, you don't have to love it"... Some might convince you that you shouldn't throw it all away and start over.

But here's what it all comes down to, and it's really simple actually.

Does this career path make you happy? Because news flash, we all deserve to be happy.

Guess what. Laura liked the screenwriting aspect she learnt whilst studying film and translated that into journalism. Jack focused that savvy mind of his on environmental science. Kendal now studies fashion design and uses her law knowledge to fight against ghastly crimes against fashion.

And guess what. They're all stoked with their switches in career

There is no shame in starting fresh. There's no shame in leaving something behind that doesn't suit you anymore. There is absolutely and utterly no shame in chasing what makes you happy!
