Help! I Don't Have A Date To Formal
Overview
- Finding a formal date has always been part of a dream of what the “perfect” night would look like. A sweet ride, fire outfit and amazing tunes included.
- But sometimes, finding a date for formal isn't the only way to have fun at formal!
Will the whole night be ruined? This thought definitely passed my mind as I was a few months out from formal, completely dateless.
Everyone felt super pressured to bring a date, and I was starting to feel pressured too. If you’re worried you won’t have the best night or that you’ll feel major FOMO, I’m here to assure you that you’re not alone! If you’re without a formal date and freaking out, keep reading for some different options.
1. Go with a group of friends
Heading to formal with a group of mates is one of the best ways to have a night full of laughs and good times (and massive savings by splitting limo costs).
Why not spend the night with those who know you most? And all without the added pressure of trying to impress your date!
2. Bring yourself as your date to formal
I know it sounds scary, but as someone who did this, hear me out. My high school had a red carpet moment outside the venue, so I had 15 seconds of the spotlight (solo) taking photos, then went inside to hang with friends.
I kind of loved having my own moment, and I felt like a boss.
3. Ask a friend to be your plus one
Asking someone you’re just friends with to be your plus one is a great way to have fun without the awkwardness of ‘first date’ vibes. You know them well, so you’re not going to have those long, awkward silences in the limo (yikes). Lots of people at my school loved this option.
Remember, it’s only one night of your life. Don’t stress yourself out telling yourself it has to be perfect. It’s supposed to be fun, so take that stress and channel it into busting out your best moves on the dance floor!
