Overview
  • Rejection is inevitable.
  • How to shake off being ashamed 🥵
  • This won't define you! You deserve the world baby 🌎

I think about this quote every dang day, courtesy to my friend Kendal for sharing it:

🍑You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, but there'll always be somebody who hates peaches 🍑

Rejection is inevitable. Sometimes, you really aren't the right person for the job. Sometimes your crush won't like you back. Sometimes you won't get accepted into your dream course.

For me at least, rejection can feel all-encompassing, overwhelming, and downright frazzling. I feel sad, embarrassed, and unworthy. I can also feel pissssed off. 😡

You're probably thinking, why tf are you telling me what rejection feels like? I know what it feels like...

Exactly! We all know what it feels like. We've all been rejected.

I've received a call saying "unfortunately, you weren't picked for this job position". I've watched my crush pash someone else on my birthday. I wasn't accepted into my dream film school.

Acknowledge that it sucks

Your first step in dealing with rejection is realising that we all cop this at some point of our lives! It's nothing to be ashamed of!

Acknowledge your feelings. Let yourself be a sad sack of potatoes for a hot minute. Go for a long walk, do some yoga, read a book or re-watch your fave movie. Treat yourself to some you time and relax.

But don't let it define you

After your lil' pity party when your initial feelings have subsided, hang with some mates or the fam-bam. Be open about how gutted you are, and then move on.

Sure, easier said than done right? But seriously. Let yourself have fun. Let yourself breathe. Let it go!!!

You can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs right? This is just a broken egg and it doesn't define you!

There will always be other opportunities. Opportunities better for you even.

Take it from me, someone who is very very familiar with rejection. You'll find your feet again, so stand high and be the best damn peach you can be.
