If you’re keen on working in any sort of creative industry (think areas like game design, animation, film and TV production or song writing) then you need to know about JMC Academy. These guys are a private college with over 35 years of experience behind them (so you know they’re the real deal). Unlike some other places, they want you to follow your creative passion which is what we’re all about at Year13.

JMC offer a range of degrees and diplomas that will get you ready for working in the real world plus they’ve got a pretty ace scholarship on offer as well. The best bit? It’s not based purely on your marks.

There’s up to eight Academic Undergraduate Scholarships up for grabs at each campus (which are located in Sydney, Melbourne and Brissy) and it covers a whole year of tuition fees. Plus, there’s also an opportunity of extending the scholarship over the entire Bachelor’s degree if you meet the conditions. Imagine not having a massive HECS debt hanging over you when you graduate.

So, who can apply?

Aussie citizens or permanent residents who have passion and ability for their field of study and have completed Year 12.

What do I need to apply?

JMC Academy looks beyond academic ability when selecting scholarship winners and know that things like creativity, passion and attitude are pretty important. So even though you’ll need to send through your marks or a copy of your Year 12 completion certificate when you get it, don’t stress.

The bulk of your application is going to include:

  • Statement of intent
  • A reference letter
  • Portfolio

And selection is based on a combination of talent, academic merit, portfolio and interview.

Short listed candidates will be asked to an interview on campus and short listed.  Contemporary Music and Performance and Song writing candidates will also need to audition.

I’m keen, what now?

Applications for the scholarship are open now so get your portfolio together and start applying. With the next JMC intake on the 12 February, you’re going to want to stay on top of this one despite how hectic everything might get with exams and results, so pop your details in here to stay in the loop about it.
