What Will My Future Career Look Like?
Most students have at the least a rough idea of what they want to do after high school, whether that’s a bachelor’s degree at university, a vocational qualification or anything else in between.
The catch is, in an everchanging world with technological advancements every day, the future of your career may not look like what you think. I mean, I don’t think our parents could have ever expected the next generation to grow up with smartphones, online streaming and artificial intelligence… what the heck will be in store for the next generation?! I’m still holding out for hoverboards, Back to The Future 2 style.
How can I know what to expect?
In terms of your future career, you may not know exactly what to expect and how to prepare for the rapid change happening every day in every job path.
But we’re not here to frazzle you! We’re here to keep you aware and alert of this forever developing world and be one step ahead.
That’s why we’ve partnered with our mates over at University of New England (UNE) who have created a ‘Future of Work predictor.’ Put your trust in their hands as this university is known for teaching students to stay one step ahead by future proofing themselves for predicted change in the workplace.
So, what the heck is this predictor, you may ask?
UNE realise that a lot of data and tasks connected to careers isn’t accessible to the average person. A lot of the time, we’re just walking around blindfolded in a world changing every day. So, they have compiled a tool that has information on jobs, tasks, wages, and employment that will change in more than 3000 occupations.
Essentially, you chuck in your qualification (ie. Year 12 student) and your dream job (or jobs) and you’ll be given knowledge on how much your future career will change, what tasks will grow, decrease or alter and wages and employment changes. It’s super simple yet abundant in hot goss on your dream paths.
Not only is this invaluable for Year 12 students graduating, it’s perfect for literally anyone. If you’re studying or working right now and are thinking of a career change, this tool would also be so beneficial for you!
To learn more about the ins and outs of this gnarly tool, we did a webinar with Aurora Howland, the Schools Liaison Officer at UNE all about predicting the future of jobs and their ‘Future of Work predictor’ over here!
To get started head here to check out the predictor. Planning out your future doesn’t have to be scary and confusing! We got you.
