Get Qualified on a Humanitarian Study Tour in Kenya
Do you aspire to use your life to help others and to enter the humanitarian space? Maybe you dream of working for the UN, leading movements designed to end poverty and disease? Maybe after doing the 40-hour-famine, a couple of Red Cross Shield Appeals and volunteering at various charity-run BBQs, you’re ready to get more invested in the space full time? Heck, maybe even make a career out of it!?
With Humanitarian Institute’s Study Tour in Kenya you walk away with a Certificate in Humanitarian Fundamentals and you get to experience real-world humanitarian issues on the field.
The teachings are born from top humanitarian leaders who have been working in the space for over 15 years. Here’s some of the sweet stuff you learn on the way (and man, it sounds flipping interesting!!!)
- International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law.
- Cross Cutting Themes: Gender, Child Protection, HIV and AIDS, Corruption, Counter-Terrorism, Resilience and Environment.
- International Career Development.
- Core Humanitarian Standards.
- Principles for Aid Workers.
- Impacts and realities of humanitarian work.
- Motivations and Competencies for Aid Work.
…and more!
Requirements? You need to be a Humanitarian Institute Member (don’t worry, it’s free. Click here, and then click ‘Join’ in the top toolbar), you need to be proficient in English (and if you’ve managed to read this far you probably are) and you need to be working or volunteering for an international NGO (non-governmental organisation) or community-based organisation. Not bad!
The finer details: It’s 8-10 days for $7, 500. If you think about it, to get a Certificate and experience on the field in Kenya, the opportunity to meet with and learn from a bunch of amazing humanitarians and pioneers for change… it’s a pretty damn good deal.
