Are HSC Exams For 2021 Being Delayed?
You went through high school and were promised a stressful exam period, but you probably never thought you’d face this type of stress with the uncertain times ahead. As our favourite Vine goes:
The authority in charge of the HSC is looking at moving HSC examinations to early November with fewer exams (mainly English and Maths) with the consideration of cancelling the majority of the other face-to-face exams.

While the vaccination process for Year 12 students affected in local government areas of concern has been prioritised, they are yet to determine whether or not the already pushed back date of October 19 is suitable enough to have 75,000 students back for four weeks worth of three hour exams - 120 in total to be precise.
But this also leaves the question for students that have practical exams - music, dance, language and drama. What about major works? Art, timber, VET? It’s a bit of a grey area but like any other subjects, they’re just as important with students wanting to follow these passions after high school.
Some people are also arguing - is English, math and chemistry more important to hold an exam for than business studies and modern history?
A couple of months ago, we reached out to Year 12 students and asked if the HSC should be canned due to the pandemic with 60% of you saying yes.

Commiserations to all that wanted it to be canned - it seems as though the government is moving heaven and earth to make sure exams go ahead but at the cost of axing the majority of the tests - so what are your thoughts on this?
Now, students would argue that this also plays a massive domino effect on how the rest of the year pans out for them, and they’re right. Will Year 12 students get their ATAR results after Christmas? Will this delay university offers? How does this weigh up to students that sit all their examinations?
With a whole bunch of questions and little answers, only time will tell and with a schools plan to be announced tomorrow - hopefully clarifying any questions we’ve got for the Year 12 students. Until then - study as little or as much as you want, run yourselves a hot bath, take comfort in knowing you’re not alone and most importantly, take care of yourself 💛
