That’s right, we’re spilling the celebrity tea and all that happened at the MTV Video Music Awards. It’s been a massive weekend of performances, glitz, glamour and fashion and I genuinely have no bloody clue how these celebrities are still standing.

We apologise for being late to the party but there is a whole lot to unpack here, from water throwing to camera lenses getting smashed. Let’s get into it:

Doja Cat - do I need to say more?

From hosting the VMA’s, to performing with an aerial routine to serving some questionable looks, the queen freaking killed it.

She’s serving mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, minion, caterpillar, croissant, Hunger Games Capitol vibes all in one and we love it.

That doesn’t even include the two other outfits she had either - she better rest her shoulders ‘cus she really did carry the VMA’s this year. She’s re-invented award-show hosting, won Best Collaboration and is just the funniest person in the music industry at the moment. Bless her.

Kim Petras in a head-to-toe latex bodysuit statement piece

She showed up and showed out with this American Horror Story, fifty shades cross Midsommar cross Pope VIBES. She is the moment. In her red carpet interview, she said the statement piece represents all the problems sex workers are facing currently and using her platform to promote that so bless Kim Petras, we love her.

Billie Eilish...apparently...throwing shade at JLO

Now this is borderline controversial because honestly, Billie Eilish, like any celebrity, shouldn't need to be camera ready one hundred percent of the time. And just because she didn’t get up, clap or cheer isn’t a major diss. But let me present you the footage and you can decide:

MGK + Conor McGregor fight

@bejoyfulisa

Love when my fyp matches 😂 @melgirlmel #fyp #vmas #vmas2020 #MGK #meganfox #connormcgregor #KeepItRealMeals

Apparently the fight was nothing and there’s no beef according to the both of them but uh… I don’t know, it looked like something to me. Protect everyone at all costs. MGK deadset nearly witnessed death when Conor started swinging. Anyway, onto their missus...

Megan Fox and Kourtney Kardashian introduce their "future baby daddies"

There’s literally nothing to say about it other than we love this chaotic and hot energy this power duo bring. We didn’t know we needed these two but they’re giving massive mid-life crisis, living their best life vibes and we’re frothing over it.

Madonna and her surprise appearance

This is queen sh*t. The second most awarded pop artist rocking up to the VMA’s, telling ‘em just who led the music industry to where it is today. We love you!

Avril Lavigne in a classic pop punk outfit that screams 2002 (in a good way)

Look, there’s been some doubts that Avril’s doppelgänger showed up instead of her (those conspiracy theories are wild) but it was indeed Avril Lavigne that showed up with her beau, Mod Sun. She hasn’t aged a day!

Olivia Rodrigo literally smashing the camera lense

It is very clear that there’s a screen in front of the camera but paying homage to Beyoncé’s baseball bat swing? A nice touch. Winning three out of six awards on the night? Amazing. People are mad about it, and for what?

Normani paying tribute to Janet Jackson in steamy performance

I’m sorry but her looks, performance and her talent is criminal. Fifth Harmony could never. She ate that performance up and left no crumbs.

Foo Fighters with the nostalgia playing late 90’s bangers

10-year-old me listening to these songs on my tiny Sony Walkman mp3 player would be happy. Yes, they still rock the same twenty years on. Bless!

It was a chaotic, nostalgic and wholesome celebration of the past years' music that we've been singing and dancing to in our self-iso rooms but bet... you'll be seeing me on the dancefloor at the club screaming some lyrics like it's the roaring 20's!
